An Update: The Rugby League World Cup

The postponed Rugby League World cup is coming back bigger and better than ever. We’re happy to confirm that the RLWC2021 is now scheduled to take place next year, kicking off in St James’ Park in Newcastle on 15th October 2022 with England’s Men’s team taking on Samoa. The World Cup will then culminate in an incredible double-header final at Old Trafford in Manchester on 19th November 2022, showcasing the exceptional talent in both the men’s and women’s teams.

Is the match schedule the same?

Despite the rescheduling, all 32 teams across the 21 nations participating in the women’s, men’s and wheelchair competitions have committed to the tournament. Organisers have finalised the full 61-match schedule which shows only 5 matches being impacted, spanning across 4 match-days.

The rescheduling changes have meant that both Anfield Stadium and the M&S Bank Arena in Liverpool have been dropped from the schedule due to the Anfield Road expansion and prior commitments, respectively.
