For those of you in the events industry, you know that attending FAM trips (familiarisation trips) could be a full-time job in itself! A couple of weeks ago, we flew to the gorgeous island of Tenerife to attend two back-to-back events. First up, Break The Ice Forum followed by a single-day familiarisation itinerary hosted by Tenerife Convention Bureau. We were lucky enough to stay at the Hard Rock Hotel - a stunning and modern hotel that oozes an effortlessly cool rockstar vibe. It was a wonderful week filled with laughter, great conversation, and even better views.
Break The Ice Forum
The forum is a space for event professionals to come together and meet suppliers while discovering a potential location, such as Tenerife, venues and sharing hospitality. For the first two days, we enjoyed a series of networking events, meetings with other professionals and potential future suppliers, along with some delicious dinners (not forgetting the rooftop drinks!).
All in all, it was an incredibly successful event and we’re looking forward to returning next year.
I grew up going to Tenerife on family holidays, but I don’t think I could ever have told you they grew bananas here, or quite as many! Dressing up in a banana-coloured dress for dinner at the banana plantation was pretty nice!
Let’s Get Rock’n Rollin’
Tenerife was certainly a FAM trip that we’ll remember for years to come! Familiarisation trips are always a fantastic way to connect with businesses and peers in a more intimate setting, compared say to the big trade shows (though they also have their merits). But they are also just as exhausting. However… the thought of exploring a gorgeous beachside resort for three days, all expenses paid, sun, sea and sand is hard to turn down - so off we went!
Day 1 Saturday Itinerary:
11am - Wine Tasting
12pm - Mount Teide Hike: We enjoyed a beautiful view of the island from the view point.
7pm - Site Visit and Dinner at Gran Melia Isadora: Host to the longest infinity pool in Europe!
Day 2 Sunday Itinerary:
9am - Whale Watching: A fun morning enjoying being out on the open water and some ocean swimming.
12.30pm - Rest and Relaxation: A much-needed trail run and refreshing cool down in the swimming pool.
4pm - Airport Transfer
A huge thank you to the Hard Rock Hotel for hosting us, Break The Ice Forum for a wonderful networking event and the Tenerife Convention Bureau for organising an action-packed FAM trip. We’re already itching to get back!
